New Port Richey investigation now Murder/Suicide

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL -

New Port Richey Police have classified the case at 6018 Maplewood Drive in New Port Richey as a murder/Suicide.  Authorities say Monday afternoon a man killed Tina Diane Lane during an attack that caused blunt force trauma. Investigators say the man was found by Lane's teenage daughter hanging in the home and that his death appears to be a suicide.  Investigators say the man was a known acquaintance of the family. The Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner will determine and rule on the official cause/manner of death for both individuals. Police are still attempting to notify the man's next of kin.  His identity will be released at that time.

UPDATE:  New Port Richey Police are classifying the case at 6018 Maplewood Drive in New Port Richey as a murder/Suicide.  Authorities say that a teenage daughter of the woman who lived at the house returned from school to find a man hanging.  After authorities arrived, they also found the teen's mother beaten to death in another part of the house.  Authorities say the man, an acquaintance of the woman, killed her and took his own life.

New Port Richey Police were on the scene Monday afternoon at a residence located at 6018 Maplewood Dr. where there are two confirmed deaths.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and is being treated as a homicide investigation. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is assisting the investigation by providing Forensic Specialists to process the scene.
