Double murder suspect Jamaal Jenkins arrested in Louisiana

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL -

Double murder suspect Jamaal Jenkins was arrested Friday afternoon in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana by U.S. Marshals.

Authorities say Jenkins was responsible for the January death of his on-and-off again girlfriend, 24 year old Destynee Burkes, at the La Quinta Inn located on 34th Street North, in Pinellas County. Investigators say surveillance video shows the pair entering room 120 at the hotel at 1:08 a.m.   Less than 30 minutes later, Jenkins left by himself.

"I can tell you, Burkes' killing at the La Quinta Inn was an execution style killing.  She was shot in the back of the head," said Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, Pinellas County.

Deputies say the two had argued days earlier because Destynee was also dating Tieyannie Hollis.

St. Petersburg Police believe Jenkins shot Hollis multiple times at the Mariner's Point apartment complex in South St. Petersburg.  "So what we've got is a very dangerous guy who has an extensive criminal history who shot two people in the head," said Gualtieri.

Jenkins has been arrested 13 times since 2003 for 27 charges ranging from theft to drugs, to child abuse. He was last released from state prison this past November.
