His appeal pending, Trevor Dooley can now leave on bond.

Judge Ashley Moody granted him a post-trial release motion setting the bond at $100,000 according to the court records.

The court order sited Dooley's lack of prior arrests calling him a "law-abiding citizen" with sufficient family ties to the community.

Trevor Dooley was convicted and sentenced to eight years in prison for killing his neighbor David James. He is appealing his conviction.

Dooley's attorney Ronald Tulin told the judge during the bond hearing earlier this week that Dooley was in poor health, appeared in court for every hearing and was not a flight risk.

Assistant District Attorney Stephen Udagawa argued that Dooley, a native to Jamaica, might present a flight risk.

The court order imposed a condition on the release for Dooley to leave his passport in court and not to travel outside of Hernando County except for meeting with his counsel and court appearances.
