Pedestrian killed in Polk County - WFLA-TV Newschannel 8

Polk County Sheriff's Traffic deputies say a semi tractor-trailer hit and killed a pedestrian, 74 year-old James Edwards of Lakeland.
Authorities say around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, a semi truck pulling a 53-foot trailer was traveling southbound on County Line Road just north of Spring Creek Drive in Lakeland. The driver, 48 year-old Herman Capers observed Edwards walking in the inside southbound lane.
Investigators believe Capers tried to avoid Edwards, but was unable to do so.
Capers stopped the truck, called 911, and rendered aid. EMS arrived on scene but Edwards was deceased. No one else was injured.
