ST. PETERSBURG, FL -

At approximately 12:50 Tuesday afternoon a fisherman stumbled upon a body floating in the Manatee River. The MSO Marine Unit recoverd the body near Emerson Point. Gary Morse from Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission confirmed that the body was that of missing boater Patrick Mullins.

The Coast Guard reported that Patrick Mullins' 14-foot boat was found adrift January 28 between Egmont Key buoys 9 and 10. Mullins' family says he didn't return home when they expected.

The Coast Guard used two boats from its St. Petersburg station, along with a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and a HC-130 Hercules plane based in Clearwater. The Coast Guard Cutter Marlin and crews from Florida Fish and Wildlife, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, and Eckerd College Search and Rescue team were also searching for Mullins.

The coast guard searched for Mullins for about 66 hours and covered more than 2,200 square miles.
