Central County Jail inmate Robert Droz, 71, died Tuesday at the Bartow Regional Medical Center, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office report.
He has been in jail since April 2012 with a total of 475 charges of Possession of Child Pornography and Lewd Molestation.
This was his first time in jail. He has previously served 18 months of probation for Lewd Assault, reduced to Battery, and Unnatural Lascivious Act back in 1987.
He was admitted to the hospital six times due to medical issues during his incarceration, the deputies said.
An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death and an inmate death investigation will be under way. This is a standard policy of the Polk County Sheriff's Office. The deputies do not suspect foul play, they said.
