A routine patrol by a Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy netted two Wisconsin fugitives on the lam. Deputy Craig Robert spotted a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck with a stolen Wisconsin tag parked at the Days Inn located at East Fletcher Avenue in Tampa. A further investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen from Washington County, Wisconsin and was involved in an armed carjacking with a knife. The two suspects with outstanding warrants for the carjacking, Scott Kudek and Kayla Goemer, were registered at the hotel. When instructed to exit the room, deputies say Kudek and Goemer refused and made comments that they would harm themselves.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office SWAT and the Crisis Negotiation Team were called to the site and began negotiation with Kudek and Goemer via telephone. SWAT was able to place both of them into custody.
Both Kudek and Goemer have multiple felony warrants out of Wisconsin for armed carjacking, obtain controlled substance by fraud, receive stolen property, possession of controlled substance, manufacturer/deliver schedule II narcotics, recklessly endangering safety and felony bail jumping.
