The Hillsborough County Children's Board Family Resource Center is officially open for business in Plant City.
"We are basically like a one stop center," explained center manager Marcia Cedano.
She says the center will offer all sorts of programs, classes and resources to families from child safety classes and child development training to parent education.
"Every family deserves information and support because it's tough to raise kids," said Brian McEwen, Executive Director of Champions for Children.
Champions for Children partners with the Hillsborough County Children's Board to operate the resource center. McEwen says having a facility in the under-served east side of the county is critical.
"I think for those of us who live in Tampa and are so oriented there we think there's nothing to driving in from the east side of the county for services, but for people who live out here that's burdensome," he said.
Karen Godinez and her two month old Isabella are already using resource center services.
"I've had her hearing screened. I had that done yesterday, so thanks to them I was able to do that. If not I was going to have to have an appointment in Lakeland for that," Godinez said.
The new Family Resource Center is located at 639 East Alexander Street in Plant City. The services offered there are available to any resident of Hillsborough County.
