A murder investigation that took nearly a year has ended, with new charges for someone who was already locked up.
In February 2012, a friend found Nancy Grooms in her apartment on 122nd Ave. stabbed to death. The police started a murder investigation.
The police examined the video surveillance footage from the local convenience stores where Grooms was last seen alive with an unknown man. The investigators also interviewed the witnesses and found DNA evidence.
This led to an arrest warrant for Otano Leggett, 35. He is currently serving time for cocaine charges in Florida State Prison.
Leggett will face the First Degree Murder with a Weapon charge after finishing his current sentence, police say.
