The Hillsborough County Sheriff's office is hoping security camera photos will help identify a man who broke in to the Hillsborough County Courthouse Saturday night. He wasn't wearing a shirt, but he did have Gapsparilla beads on.
The Sheriff's office says the incident happened around 7:30 P.M., a few hours after the end of the Gasparilla parade.
The sheriff's office says the man broke into a glass door of the Hillsborough County courthouse annex building. The door has been repaired, but there are still bloodstains on the ground outside of the door.
The sheriff's office says the man apparently cut himself on the glass as he broke in.
Security camera photos show the shirtless man wandering through the building and then being confronted by a security guard.
Debbie Carter from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office says after being confronted by the security guard, the man escaped. " Somehow, which is still under investigation, once he was escorted out, and was going to be waiting for medical and law enforcement, he fled the scene.", says Carter.
The sheriff's office says they aren't sure why the man entered the courthouse, but it appears alcohol was a factor. "He appeared to be extremely intoxicated and that's why they were also requiring medical assistance for him."
Now the sheriff's office is hoping the man will make a return trip to the courthouse. Next time, in front of a judge.
