Tuesday's meeting of Lakeland city commissioners
LAKELAND, FL -
Lakeland City commissioners aren't quite ready to green light plans for 15 new red light cameras around the city.
At a work session Tuesday commissioners requested Lakeland Police provide additional crash data for the five intersections that already have cameras.
City officials want to better understand how effective the existing cameras are and how necessary new ones would be.
"If we have a deadly intersection then I'm willing to support putting an additional camera at that intersection," said Commissioner Don Selvage. "But I think we have to be very prudent in determining what intersections warrant red light cameras."
