For some, sorting items for recycling can be a tedious task. For residents of Pinellas County, it's about to get a whole lot easier.
Residents will now be allowed to mix various items meant for recycling, the county announced.
Previously, certain materials were required to be separated making recycling less convenient.
The change means all paper, plastic, metal, glass and other recyclables are collected together rather than being pre-sorted into various categories.
"This ‘single stream' method of collection and processing is designed to efficiently handle a commingled mixture of recyclables," officials said.
Pinellas County Solid Waste offers a total of 14 recycling drop-off centers at locations throughout the county. Many municipalities also provide curbside or drop-off recycling. A complete list of recycling drop-off locations is available online in the Recycle Today directory.
