NC WEATHER: More rain Saturday, but 80s all weekend

Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

Most of central North Carolina saw 90s Friday, but for some, that could be the last time hot weather and humidity are around.

Friday was the hottest day of the month for many in North Carolina.  The Triangle made it up to 92 while Fayetteville made it up to 98 with a heat index of 101.  Our normal high this time of year is 88.

Overnight will be partly to mostly cloudy with a risk of a shower or storm, mainly before midnight.  The muggy overnight low will stay in the lower 70s.

Saturday will be a transition day as a cold front will drop in from the northeast and move to our south.  With more clouds and a little better chance of showers and storms, highs will drop into the upper 80s.

By Sunday, clouds will give way to some sun as high pressure will build in from the northeast bringing in cooler air.  So, with clearing skies look for highs around 83 on Sunday. There is a small chance of rain Sunday, mainly south of the Triangle.

The first day of school for many, Monday, will see humidity drop even more with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and a high of 81.  Morning temperatures Monday will be comfortable too, starting around 65.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly sunny with highs in the lower to middle 80s as high pressure will continue to dominate along with low humidity.  Overnight lows will stay in the mid 60s.  Thursday temperatures will warm back up into the upper 80s with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.
