It happened at the intersection of Shadowlawn and Nebraska right around 2:30. Investigators say officers initially responded to the Interstate Lounge on Nebraska after getting a call about two women involved in a fight. Investigators say, one of those women, Kathleen Trombley, 25, left the bar in a white Pontiac Sunfire with a passenger, Patrick Simmons, 38.
Officers saw the car traveling northbound on Nebraska when they say Trombley swerved onto the sidewalk and attempted to hit two men. One of the men jumped out of the way, the other was knocked to the ground. Investigators say Trombley then did a u-turn and headed south on Nebraska, and turned off her lights. Responding officers also did a u-turn and attempted to follow Trombley, but before they could catch up to the speeding Pontiac, it flipped and crashed.
Trombley died at the scene. Paramedics transported Simmons to the hospital with a broken leg.
Authorities are still trying to determine what the initial fight was about, and how and if the two men on the sidewalk were involved. They say both Simmons and have prior criminal records. Records show Trombley had served time in state prison in New York on an attempted armed robbery charge. She was released in June of 2010.
