Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives are willing to pay, for information that leads to the arrest of an accused killer.
Today, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri offered a cash reward of $50,000, for a tip that leads investigators to Jamaal Jenkins. Clear Channel billboards will spread the word about the offer, starting Thursday afternoon. The cash will come from drug forfeiture money.
Deputies believe Jenkins is still in the Tampa Bay area, and is an extreme threat to public safety. They have identified him as the suspect in two recent shootings.
The violence stared at the La Quinta Inn, 34th Street North, in Pinellas County a week ago. Deputies believe 24 year old Destynee Burkes died at the hands of a jealous on-and-off-again boyfriend, Jamaal Jenkins.
Investigators say surveillance video shows the pair entering room 120 at 1:08 a.m. Less than 30 minutes later, Jenkins left by himself. Sheriff Gualtieri says Burkes was shot execution-style in the back of the head.
Deputies say the two had argued days earlier because Destynee was also dating Tieyannie Hollis.
Monday afternoon, St. Petersburg Police believe Jenkins shot Hollis multiple times at the Mariner's Point apartment complex in South St. Petersburg.
Jenkins has been arrested 13 times since 2003 for 27 charges ranging from theft to drugs, to child abuse. He was last released from state prison this past November.
Investigators also believe Jenkins was driving a stolen rental car, a silver Chrysler 200.
