Heather Russo started her own cleaning company and now she caters to women who have cancer. She cleans their home as part of her cleaning services.
LAKELAND, FL -
A Lakeland woman is partnering her budding cleaning business with a national non-profit organization to offer cleaning services free of charge to women battling cancer.
Heather Russo discovered Cleaning For A Reason by accident and decided the national organization, which partners local companies with cancer patients, was the right fit for her.
"I want to make a difference in a woman's life," Russo explained.
Women who think they may be eligible apply through the Cleaning For A Reason web site. If they live within 20 miles of the Lakeland Cleaning Company they'll be partnered with Russo.
"They get one cleaning per month up to four months and then once that commitment is completed I mark it as checked and they (the organization) send me new clients," Russo said.
Cleaning For A Reason has more than 1,000 partner companies across the U.S. and Canada including businesses in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties.
Russo hopes to meet her first Cleaning For A Reason clients soon.
"Just to be able to bond with someone, knowing that you made their life better and even after the four cleanings are up, just to be able to know you've impacted someone's life... is nice," she said.
