
A 31-year old man, already in jail on unrelated charges,is now facing murder charges in connection with the 2011 death of Ellie LynnMason, 45.
Mason's body was discovered in a vacant house in the 2000block of Six Avenue North in January 2011.
Police said Mason had been beaten to death with a brickfound at the scene, and that she had been dead for several days before police discoveredher body.
Mason had previously been arrested multiple times for prostitution,and police said they believe she was "activity engaged" in the practice at thetime of her death.
On Tuesday, Saint Petersburg police charged Terry AllenJr., 31 in connection with Mason's death. Allen was identified via DNA found atthe scene, police said.
Allen told investigators that while he had sexualrelations with the victim, he denied killing her, the report said.
Allen was already in the Pinellas County jail, on unrelatedcharges of kidnapping and attempted sexual battery involved a prostitute, whenhe was charged with Mason's death.
