Deputies in Collier County know what a Grizzly bear is doing in the woods. Or at least, they know how it ended up there.
The bear cub escaped from a private residence in Golden Gate Estates Tuesday morning. The 100-pound cub was raised in captivity.
Sheriff's officials are advising anyone who runs into the Grizzly bear cub to not run away. Instead, they suggest you clap your hands and say, "Bear go home." The bear will likely run away.
Residents have also been advised to secure their trash cans, in case the bear is searching for food.
Anyone who sees the cub is asked to contact the Collier County Sheriff's Office at 252-9300, or call the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Wildlife Alert hotline at 888-404-FWCC (3922).
