POLK COUNTY, FL -
Polk County Sheriff's Office detectives conducted a four day investigation targeting online sites for prostitution.
Undercover deputies arrested 78 people and charged them with various crimes. Those arrested ranged from a retired airline pilot to a transsexual working at a make-up counter.
According to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, these people were using online sites to either commit prostitution or to solicit a prostitute.
The sting led investigators to a local hotel where surveillance video shows detectives working undercover. Sheriff Judd says that some suspects kept on committing crimes, even after they saw deputies arresting others in the hotel's parking lot.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd says, "Our message is clear - prostitution is illegal and those who commit or who derive proceeds from this crime in Polk County can expect to go to jail."
