WFLA-TV's "Daytime" show is getting a new host.
Jerry Penacoli, formerly of EXTRA, has been named co-host of the syndicated program, which originates out of WFLA's studios in Tampa. Penacoli is a multiple Emmy award-winner, who served as a correspondent for the entertainment show EXTRA for 13 seasons. He has also been a host for E! Entertainment Television.
Brad Moses, president and general manager of WFLA, said, "Our long standing relationship with EXTRA and [Penacoli's] frequent visits to guest host made him a staff and viewer favorite."
Penacoli will co-host Daytime along with current host, Cyndi Edwards.
Prior to his career in Hollywood, which included roles on several daytime dramas and guest appearances on prime-time shows, Penacoli was a news anchor at KYW-TV in Philadelphia. He also hosted PM Magazine at WTVJ in Miami, and before that, he worked at WJKS in Jacksonville as a reporter and anchor.
Penacoli will begin as co-host on Daytime on February 4.
Daytime is syndicated in 130 television markets. It airs at 11 a.m. on Channel 8.
