"Bueller" was absent from his owner's home for a couple of days, but now, after a massive effort on social media, the French Bulldog has been found.
A neighbor, Gregory Sakas, located the dog Saturday morning, shortly after two men stole the dog from its owner, Derek McComber, at gunpoint. Sakas was in the process of making flyers to post in the neighborhood, when he heard about the effort to find Bueller.
Hillsborough deputies say Derek McComber was walking his dog, "Bueller", on Saturday, in his Town 'n Country neighborhood, off Waters Avenue and Pinehurst Drive, when two men pulled up in a Honda Civic. McComber says one of the men got out of the car, and asked what kind of dog he had. McComber told the man it was a French Bulldog, and the man replied, "Well, I'm taking it." McComber says the man was pointing a handgun at him. He says the man scooped up the dog, got in the car, and drove away.
A friend of McComber named "Christine" set up a page on Facebook, called Help Find Bueller. As of Monday morning, the page had already received more than a thousand "likes". She was also tweeting about the search for his dog using the handle @helpfindbueller.
On the Facebook page, Christine said, "Believe me when I tell you there is no connection like these two have for each other."
Hillsborough deputies have not released any information about arrests in the case. They ask that anyone with information about the case call 247-8200, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477).
