SR 60 crash in Polk County kills two, road reopened - WFLA-TV Newschannel 8

State Road 60 in eastern Polk County has reopened, following a deadly crash involving a passenger car and a tractor-trailer.

The crash happened around 6 this morning, on SR 60 west of Indian Lake Estates. Investigators believe that the car was traveling west in the eastbound lanes, when it collided with the truck. Two people were killed. Authorities are not releasing the names of the victims until their families have been notified.

The crash and resulting fire damaged the roadway. As of Wednesday afternoon, only one lane has re-opened in each direction. Repair work should be completed by Thursday morning.
