It took less than 24 hours for Plant High School's football coach, Robert Weiner, to have a change of heart.
On Monday, Weiner announced that he had accepted an offer from the University of South Florida, to be their new receivers coach. Tuesday morning, we received word that he is staying put at Plant.
"We are all very excited that (Weiner) has decided to stay," Plant principal Rob Nelson said, in a statement released today. "What he brings to the school means so much to us."
Weiner has led the Plant Panthers to four state championships. After 9 seasons at Plant, his record is 102-19.
"Coach Weiner is a great coach and man who will continue to do great things at Plant," said USF coach Willie Taggart. "We knew pulling him away from the young men in the Plant program would be difficult for him and we wish him continued success moving forward."
