People who live near Crest Lake Park in Clearwater, likely got a knock on their door Monday evening. The parents of murder victim, Jason Paul, 22, joined volunteers handing out fliers about the weekend stabbing death of their son. Somebody stabbed Paul on Saturday night, as he rode his bike along Glenwood Avenue.
The death has devastated his family. "Jason was a wonderful young man and he was just starting his life. He was getting ready to go to vet-tech school. This was just extremely senseless" said his mother, Renee Langfritz.
Police don't have a motive for this crime. Detectives say Jason Paul had property on him when they found his body in the middle of the street. His death is the first for the department in the new year. "A life has been lost. We're certainly pulling out all the stops. Everything we can: said Detective William Hodgson.
Investigators have not located a murder weapon, likely a knife. They are asking people who live near the crime scene to look around their yards. If they find something, they are being asked not to touch it, but call Clearwater Police. The same advise applied to anyone with information about this murder.
