Putting up with a persistent light drizzle, friends and fellow Bloomingdale High students came to pay their respects to 16-year-old Zach McCarthy.
Flowers, candles, and stuffed animals, sit among the shards of glass left behind from a violent crash.
Hillsborough deputies say the accident happened around Wednesday night when Zach McCarthy was westbound on Nature's Way Boulevard, somehow lost control of his car, spun around slammed into a tree on the driver's side door.
Sobs, tears and silent cries filled the room at the Redeemer Presbyterian Church, where Zach attended since he was 2. His Pastor knew him well. "He was a great kid. Loved Jesus. Sang in the praise team here at church. Sang at the Bloomingdale High School's ambassadors. Was a very conscientious kid" said Pastor Craig Swartz.
A trumpet player in the Bloomingdale High marching band, friends remember Zach as a kind, generous young man. "Every time I saw him he would always be smiling and he'd always care about what other people wanted and not for himself" said church member Laura Swartz.
A memorial is planned for Sunday.
