Monica Johnson delivered the first bay area baby of 2013 13 seconds after midnight.
First time mom, Monica Johnson, says the name she picked out for her baby before he was even born, fits him perfectly.
"Baylin is Cherokee for mighty warrior because we're (mom and dad) are both Cherokee," Monica said.
She didn't know he'd live up to his name in the delivery alone. It only took Monica 20 minutes of pushing before Baylin was ready to come out. She says her baby wanted to make an entrance. And he succeeded; being the first baby born in the bay area in 2013 just 13 seconds after midnight.
Although mom and dad, Steve Konitzer, were too busy to check the time, Grandpa had an eye on the clock.
"Everybody in the room everybody turned to the monitor to see what the time was," Monica's dad, Jeff Johnson, said. "It was very special."
Mom's just happy her baby is healthy and says he'd be special no matter what day he was born.
"It's going to be a perfect year that's for sure," Monica said. "It started off really good,"
