An investigation into a cockfighting ring is underway in Hillsborough County.
Investigators were called to the 500 block of Greenway Drive, near Plant City, Tuesday morning.
Deputies say when they arrived on the scene a cockfight was in progress. Investigators also discovered a number of animals, including roosters, in cages.
Some of the animals were dead, deputies said.
Nine individuals have been detained for questioning. The investigation is ongoing.
