Winter the dolphin sees dozens of visitors a day. She's become the most famous attraction at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Monday she had a visitor who stood out from the crowd. A guy with a special connection to her story.

"I know for a lot of people I can be that person they relate to and then for me it's amazing to have a dolphin that I can relate to and feel a connection with," Mealer said.

28-year-old Brock Mealer first met the dolphin a few years ago. He's followed her progress as he's grown himself. Five years ago he was in a car accident. He lost his father. His brother lost his girlfriend. Doctors told him he only had a 1 percent chance of ever walking again. He beat the odds and walked down the aisle at his wedding last weekend.

Like Winter he's surpassed expectations.

"It's amazing to be with this dolphin and have the feeling of a connection because somehow we understand the things each one has gone through and have a mutual respect for that," Mealer said.

Although he lives in Ohio he's in town to see his brother play in the Outback Bowl. Elliot Mealer is a senior at Michigan.
