Four new food trucks will join Tampa's next downtown food truck rally Wednesday.
The event, dubbed Mayor Buckhorn's Food Truck Fiesta, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lykes Gaslight Square Park on Franklin and Madison streets.
The gathering of mobile restaurants will be the third downtown rally since November. Other rallies have taken place in other parts of the city since last summer as the food-truck trend, which originated in New York City, has gathered steam in the Tampa Bay area.
City officials have scheduled food-truck rallies downtown for the first Wednesday of each month.
Previous rallies have drawn thousands of foodies to vendors selling everything from gourmet burgers to fancy desserts. November's downtown rally drew huge crowds, but the number dropped off for December's rally.
In a written statement, Buckhorn urged the support of "a unique community of local, small businesses."
The list of new vendors scheduled for this week include Keepin' it Reel, Jimmy Meatball, Americanwiener and Bollywood Café. Returning trucks include Maggie on the Move, Wicked 'Wiches, Killer Samich, Burger Culture, Fire Monkey and Taco Bus.
