Police in Saint Petersburg are searching for the person who tampered with a handful of post office mailboxes Wednesday evening.
An anonymous caller notified police around 8 p.m. about a suspicious person near the open-air post office, located at the corner of 1st Ave North and 4th Streets.
When police arrived, they did not see the suspicious person but discovered a half dozen mailboxes had been pried open and a handful of mail laying on the floor.
The mail was turned over to the postal inspector.
