Screens at Tampa International Airport show numerous delayed flights on Thursday, December 27Weather problems to the north continued to impact travel to and from Tampa Bay on Thursday.
Some flights in and out of Tampa International Airport were delayed, though most waits were an hour or less. There were just a handful of cancellations in the Bay area by mid day, including a flight to TIA from Hartford and flights between Washington, D.C. and Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.
"An hour delay wasn't bad, hopefully that's it," said Kim Grissom, heading to Chicago with her husband and two children.
Grissom and others waiting for their flights with minimal delays worried the wait could get longer as the day went on.
Sometimes the flight out of the Bay area wasn't the only concern.
Ricky Govender and his family were waiting for an on-time flight out of Tampa to New York, after a holiday vacation that included Disney World and a cruise.
They plan to stay in New York for a day but their final destination is their home in South Africa and they worry weather in the Northeast could affect that international flight.
"We've got a day and we're hoping it doesn't snow too much," Govender said. "If that happens, then we've got problems."
