Hernando County investigators are especially interested in catching a prolific bank burglar. They say the bandit has hit more banks in their area, than in any other Bay Area county.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office released a surveillance photo of the thief yesterday. The image shows the burglar inside the Heritage Bank in the 28000 block of State Road 54, around 4 A.M. Monday. Once inside, detectives say the burglar pried open a cabinet but did not take any money.

The Bank of Tampa on Amberly Drive was also hit, shortly before 4:00 A.M. Monday. And on Saturday, December 22, someone shattered a rear entry door to the Bay City Bank on Highway 41, but nothing was reported stolen.

Today, Hernando County investigators say they believe the same burglar has hit in four locations in the county, and two within the jurisdiction of the Brooksville Police Department. They think this could be a sign that the burglar has ties to Hernando County.

Anyone who has any information about the suspect or burglary is asked to contact the Pasco Sheriff's Office Crimes Tip line at 1-800-706-2488. You can also contact the Hernando County Sheriff's Office at 352-754-6830 or Detective Tony Mazza direct at 352-797-3869 or at tmazza@hernandosheriff.org.
