A steady stream of shoppers went in and out of the Toys R Us in Wesley Chapel Friday.
The toy store is offering special savings over the next four days. And some shoppers could not resist the deals.
Martina Yates says these discounts came just in time. "With work and with the economy it's been kind of rough so we waited until the last minute hoping for some really good sales and we did good.">
How good? Buy one get one half off on Nerf guns and Xbox video games. Yates saved 71 dollars.
Besides the sales, Toys R Us also has another plan to bring in more customers in these final hours. Starting Friday night they are going to be open for 24 hours until Christmas eve when they close at 10 pm.
At the Shops of Wiregrass, the sidewalks are filled with shoppers. Some took the day off to beat the crowds.
Lauren Leahey said she wanted to get her shopping done Friday. "I might as well try and beat the rush this weekend I imagine is going to be absolutely insane."
"The lines are really long," said shopper Sharon Daniels.
Many stores were offering sales as high as 40% and 50% off.
"There are a lot of good deals out there," said shopper Raymond Sellers.
The AppFinity kiosk in the middle of the mall had already sold out of several of its high tech toys by Sunday afternoon, including remote controlled helicopters and cars.
"This weekend has been so much crazier than Black Friday was," said AppFinity employee Megan Dixon.
The National Retail Federation expects holiday sales to be 4% higher than last year. Many Bay area malls and shopping centers offered extended hours leading up to the holiday. Several will be open Monday and they could be crowded. A Consumer Reports study predicts 9% of American shoppers will wait to Christmas Eve to complete their shopping.
