MIAMI (AP) - An attorney for the trainer fired last month by the Miami Dolphins says his client was improperly singled out to placate a public outcry for action in the wake of the team's bullying scandal. Kevin O'Neill was fired five days after the release of a report on the scandal after a three-month investigation. O'Neill expressed hostility toward the investigation and cut short an interview with those conducting it.
DORAL, Fla. (AP) - Match Play champion Jason Day of Australia has withdrawn from the Cadillac Championship because of a thumb injury. Day was making his first start since winning the Match Play Championship in Arizona two weeks ago. He says his left thumb bothered him the last time he played and the pain persisted at Doral.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed tight end Clay Harbor and offensive tackles Cameron Bradfield and Sam Young to contracts. The deals were completed today, five days before Harbor and Young would have become free agents.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired forward Marcel Goc from the Florida Panthers and forward Lee Stempniak from the Calgary Flames in exchange for draft picks. Goc had 11 goals and 12 assists in 62 games this season for the Panthers.
