MIAMI (AP) - A federal judge in Tallahassee has declared Florida's ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional. Judge Robert L. Hinkle joins state judges in four counties who have sided with gay couples wishing to tie the knot. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has appealed the previous rulings.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - A 69-year-old woman is dead from an apparent drowning off a Tampa Bay area beach. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reports Kathleen Marie Shortill was swimming off Madeira Beach yesterday. Officials say Shortill had been in the water when her husband noticed she was unresponsive.

OCALA, Fla. (AP) - A man is accused of leaving his three children in a car for hours outside an Ocala bar while he got drunk inside. An officer found Joshua Delong outside of Dr. B's bar just after 2 a.m. with a bleeding head. A security guard told officers that an angry patron punched Delong before he was arrested on child endangerment charges.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A Jacksonville Fire lieutenant is suing the department for gender discrimination. Candice Buckner claims she was punished for complaining about her male colleagues' profane comments and pornography. A department spokesman says Buckner's initial claims were investigated and no further action was deemed warranted.
