Steve Jerve

The Storm Team's Chief Meteorologist Steve Jerve provides your weekday weather forecasts on News Channel 8's 5, 5:30, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts.

Steve attended the University of Minnesota-Morris, earning a degree in speech communication. He then went on to do extensive graduate study in meteorology at Jackson State University and Mississippi State University.

He began his career as a reporter, photographer, editor and weather anchor at KAAL-TV in Austin, MN. He then became the main weather anchor at WJTV in Jackson, MS. At WFTV in Orlando, FL he spent almost 8 years covering hurricanes, including Andrew, where he rode out the category 5 hurricane near the National Hurricane Center in Miami. He then went to KDNL in St. Louis as Chief Meteorologist and won an Emmy Award in 1996.

Steve has been Chief Meteorologist for the Storm Team since 1998. He is a full member of the American Meteorological Society and is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM), a designation awarded by the AMS.

His interests include travelling all over the world, World War II history, movies and science. Motorcycling is another passion he has enjoyed his whole life.
