Gayle Guyardo

Gayle Guyardo co-anchors "News Channel 8 "Today" from 5-7 a.m., and the midday show on weekdays. She also works on the "Viewer Connection" stories. She came to WFLA-TV in June, 1993, from an independent television station in Sarasota, where she anchored the station's evening newscasts. While in Sarasota, Guyardo worked as a top volunteer for several civic and charity organizations.

Prior to moving back to Florida's West coast, Guyardo worked as a Capitol city reporter for the ABC affiliate in Montgomery, Ala. She later anchored the "Good Morning Alabama" segment and was the station's evening weather anchor.

Guyardo graduated from Auburn University with a degree in communications in 1988. She also attended Northwestern University in a specialized theater and communications program. While in college, Guyardo interned at several television stations, including WTOG Channel 44 in St Petersburg.

Guyardo grew up in the Bay area and graduated from Plant High School.

Guyardo is married and has three daughters - Katie, Lindsay and Alena. Guyardo's early morning schedule works out great. When she gets off work she can turn into a full-time mom spending the whole day with her girls.
