A quick-thinking man leaped into the Tampa Bay after his truck bursts into flames on the Howard Frankland Bridge Sunday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the 2005 Toyota Tacoma caught fire after experiencing a mechanical failure.
The driver successfully drove the truck to a shoulder on the roadway, exited the vehicle and jumped into Tampa Bay.
He then waited at the base of the bridge and was rescued by the Tampa Fire Rescue unharmed, troopers said.
