Woman held captive, threatened with machete, sexually assaulted in Ruskin, deputies say

RUSKIN, Fla. (WFLA) - A man was arrested on kidnapping, sexual battery and aggravated battery charges in Ruskin on Friday.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Jerry Roberts Jr., 32, met the victim at a vacant home in Ruskin on Wednesday.

When the victim entered the home, Roberts struck her multiple times in the face and head.

The sheriff's office says Roberts then held a machete to her neck and threatened her life, tied her up with a ligature and sexually battered her.

The victim was kept inside the vacant home for approximately 18 hours before she was able to escape.

A search warrant of the home was conducted and evidence was found that was consistent with the victim's statements.

The sheriff's office said video of the victim bound and naked was found on Roberts' phone. 

Roberts was arrested and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
