HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) - Nearly a decade after someone shot and killed 21-year-old Victor Martinez, Hillsborough detectives have obtained a warrant for his murder.
Martinez was found dead in November 2009 after succumbing to a gunshot wound to his head in the area of Powell Road and Highway 41 South in Gibsonton.
After following up on numerous leads, detectives developed sufficient evidence to obtain an arrest warrant almost ten years later.
On Saturday night, officials announced a warrant is out for 28-year-old Charles Andrew Martinez in connection with the killing. It's unclear if the two men were related or known to each other.
Charles Martinez is currently in the Hillsborough County Jail serving time for a 2013 homicide.
Deputies would not release any further information regarding the case and said the investigation is ongoing.
