Starbucks sued over too much ice in drinks

WCMH - CHICAGO (WCMH) - An Illinois woman is suing Starbucks over the amount of ice the chain uses in its cold drinks.

The lawsuit was filed by Stacy Pincus in the Northern Illinois Federal District Court on Wednesday, NBC News reported.

The lawsuit claims that due to the amount of ice used in the cold beverages, the cups actually contain around half of the amount of the drink that is listed on the menu.

"The word 'beverage' is defined as 'a drinkable liquid.' Ice is not a 'beverage' by definition. Accordingly, Starbucks actually gives the customer much less beverage in the cold drinks they order and pay for," the lawsuit says.

The lawsuit is seeking around $5 million in damages on behalf of any customer who has purchased a cold drink at Starbucks since 2006.

Starbucks did not immediately respond to a request by NBC News for comment.
