Claire Ricke | KXAN - FORT WORTH, Texas (KXAN) - A Texas mom wanted to make sure her son didn't miss out on a school event called "Donuts with Dad."
The single mother decided to dress up like a man for the event. She wore a plaid shirt and added a mustache after her son said she didn't look enough like a man.
Yevette Vasquez made the last minute decision so her son wouldn't miss out on the fun. She said she was nervous walking into the school, but received a lot of support from most of the other dads and people online after her story went viral.
"I think it's important to teach our kids to not have any excuses or feel bad for themselves because they don't have a father or mother," said Vasquez.
Vasquez said she has even heard from single parents from around the world who shared their stories. She says she might dress up like a dad again since her two younger sons want her to do the same thing when they are old enough to go to "Donuts with Dad."
