Study ranks most wrinkle-prone states

WFLA Web Staff - A study released Tuesday ranks states - by where you're most likely to wrinkle. "Most people are aware of the impact the sun has on your skin, but did you know where you call home could be adding to the fine lines and wrinkles on your face?" a press release from Sperling's Best Places and RoC Skincare reads.

To determine the rankings, the researchers looked at lifestyle, occupational information and environmental factors. They looked at factors that relate to skin damage, the press release says.

You might expect Florida to rank high in wrinkles. After all, we get plenty of sun and have enticing beaches. However, the Sunshine State ranked 32 in terms of wrinkle-prone states.

"Florida has the highest humidity in our study, which helps offset the high number of sunny days which can damage the skin," the press release reads. "Florida is also the lowest state, with an average elevation of only 36 feet. Florida residents have a fairly long average commute, and the state has low amounts of pollution, both ozone and particulate."

We apparently now have a reason to be thankful for humidity. Imagine that.

Meanwhile, New York ranked first. Why?  "New York reports very high scores for being 'dissatisfied with life' and 'lacking emotional support,'" the press release says. New Yorkers also have the second-longest commute times in the country.
