Tampa home invasion suspect shot by resident

Tampa Police say a man shot a home invasion suspect who followed him into his home Thursday night.

Detectives say the residents were returning to their home on the 1800 block of 24th Ave at about 8:45 p.m. when they were followed into their home by a man and a woman.

Police say a confrontation ensued and the resident shot the male suspect. Officers say the suspects ran from the scene, but they caught up to the man a short time later. He taken to a hospital and is in critical condition.

Police say they are still looking for the woman who was involved.
