EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK, Fla. (AP) - Wildlife officials say that after losing sight of a pod of whales that was stranded in the Everglades, they are ceasing rescue efforts. The National Park Service says aerial and boat survey teams could not locate the whales Saturday, a potentially encouraging sign that they have moved farther offshore.
MIAMI (AP) - Two South Florida men have been sentenced to federal prison time for their roles in a cocaine smuggling ring that used cargo shipping containers. Court records show U.S. District Judge K. Michael Moore sentenced 47-year-old David Rodriguez of Miami to more than 19 years behind bars. Moore sentenced 35-year-old Rogny Jerez Lopez of Hialeah to more than seven years in prison.
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - Scientists are stepping up efforts to learn where and how many Great Lakes water birds are getting fatal food poisoning. Researchers in Florida are using stuffed bird carcasses in a lab tank to develop a model that could trace their movements and pinpoint where they were poisoned.

Their complaints range from difficulties adding their name to a customer's application to incomplete and inaccurate enrollment information generated from the website.
